Long-term Housing

Long-term Housing 2017-09-06T11:03:20+00:00

Are you a pregnant teen? Do you need housing and a place of safety during your pregnancy?

Are you wondering “now what”?

Maybe you’re worried about being able to feed your baby or afford a doctor for your baby. You don’t feel prepared to raise a child without help. We’d like to invite you into our home, The Sparrow’s Nest, which provides free, long term housing to teen mothers experiencing homelessness for any reason.

We are a small space and cannot guarantee a place for you. However, we would love to help you find support and a place to stay if we are unable to house you and your child. If you are not in need of housing, but do need some additional support, click here to learn how we may be able to help.

Here’s what you need to know:

Can I Live at the Nest?

  • Must be 20 years old or younger.
  • We house mothers at all stages of pregnancy and for up to a year after the child is born.
  • Additionally, a mother with a child under five may live at the Nest.
  • No repeated history of violence.
  • No history of severe mental illness.
  • No untreated substance addictions.

What Next?

First, you’ll be invited for a tour or our home and an interview with our case manager and finally you’ll meet with a counselor.  Then together we’ll decide if The Nest is a good fit for you.

What will life be like?

The Nest is not just a house with beds, nutritious food, diapers, bottles and cribs. The Nest is also a family. Our staff help encourage and support mothers and their babies.

Moms need to be ready to learn life skills. Just like other teens, you will be enrolled in school while at the Nest.  Our program includes attending a church of your choice and volunteering four hours a month in the community. You’ll learn about childbirth, budgeting, and parenting in order to prepare for the world. You will also have access to a counselor, mentors, tutors, labor and delivery coaches and Bible study leaders.

The Nest family will cook and eat dinner together, help care for each other, and participate in bible studies. The goal of the Nest is to help teen mothers have a safe, healthy place for pregnancy and birth and make good choices long after leaving the Nest. We wish for every teen mom to come to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and grow as a person during her time here.
