I believe everyone deserves support, love, and guidance. I want Sparrow to be a place of refuge, a place that each young woman feels respected and loved for the individual they are and not judged by their current situation. My vision for Sparrow is creating a home where each girl will develop self-confidence, healthy relationships, and skills that will open the doors of opportunity for her and her baby.

Founder/Executive Director – Carissa Figgins

Carissa has been married for 19 years and has 3 children. Carissa has been involved in social service and education and is currently a stay at home mom. Carissa founded The Sparrow’s Nest after learning about the need for housing for homeless, teen girls facing an unplanned pregnancy. Carissa enjoys running and pretending she understands social media.

I refuse to turn away from these children in need. It’s easy to see how we need to care for a precious, innocent baby. But it’s just as important to me that we care for that young mother with a second chance. We have a chance to impact not just one life but two. We have an opportunity to impact a generation through intervention, love, support, accountability, and empowerment.

I believe all are loved by God and He calls us to care for all children.  I desire Sparrow to be a place where girls learn the love of their Savior and learn to trust in Him.  I desire to enable other Christians to mentor these young women into adulthood.  I desire for more lovely babies to be born into this world.  Sparrow will be a place where we honor God and His people.
